A wedding is a ceremony to celebrate the union of two hearts in an eternal bond of love. The words marriage and wedding are synonymous, and signify the fusion of two souls. The word wedding, however, radiates a different feeling. A marriage becomes a wedding when, along with the emotional and sacred overtones, the occasion is commemorated by jollification and the environment is aerated with revelry. Weddings are therefore occasions where the invited parties (mainly the near and dear ones) come together to express their love and joy for the bride and the groom.

The value of a gift should never be judged in pecuniary terms. A wedding gift should reflect the thought behind it. The belief that the value of a wedding gift should astatine least be equivalent to the money expended per person astatine a company is a gross misnomer. In a monetary sense, the kind of relation a guest shares with the couple is a determinant of the gift value. All the same, a handmade gift like a scrapbook ranks high in personal value, although it has little monetary value.

There are various rules of wedding gift-giving etiquette which should be followed. All invited guests who attend the wedding should bring gifts. While giving gifts, one should ideally keep the couple’s individual taste in mind. Giving away a golf set to one concerned only in active sports is a thoughtless gift and erodes the very purpose of the tradition.

A gift should always be packed cautiously and tastefully, and labeled with a handwritten note bearing the giver’s name. A gift can be also sent to the couple’s new house or to the parents who are hosting the wedding beforehand. This is convenient for the couple, as they don’t have to keep track of the gifts during the function, or worry about the transportation of gifts after the function. In some cultures, a guest is supposed to carry the gift to the wedding reception. More recently, invitees have the option of acquiring gifts from the bridal registries that a lot of couples register for.

There are different categories of gift giving. Gift exchanges among the newlyweds, gifts given by parents to the bride and bridegroom, and thank-you gifts for guests are the other categories of gift giving. Personalized gifts, handmade and creative gifts, classic gifts, gift certificates and wedding mementos are all suitable gifts, and the gift market, both online and offline, is full of ideas.

Many brides fail to consider whether their wedding rings will actually be complimented by their engagement rings. For example, I chose a white gold engagement ring so there is no point me even looking at the traditional yellow gold wedding rings as they will just not be suitable.

My partner, on the other hand, prefers yellow gold wedding rings. So, we decided that we were not going to have matching wedding rings after all and both of us began looking at very different colours and styles of wedding rings.

If are are sentimental then your wedding rings can be made for you from an older piece of gold or silver. This can be a good idea if jewelry has been left to you by a relative. Having it made into your wedding rings is a nice way of “keeping them with you”.

Platinum wedding rings are becoming increasingly popular too which adds to the amount of choice available.

More men are choosing wedding rings that have decorated edges or even small gemstones inlaid in them with the plain yellow gold band of traditional wedding rings becoming less of a popular choice.

At the end of the day, you are intending to wear your wedding rings for the rest of your life so it makes sense to choose ones that you are comfortable wearing and not simply because they match.

You’re probably wondering how you can focus on only a few aspects of your wedding ceremony. After all, the entire ceremony is special, right? While it is true that all aspects of a wedding are important, by focusing on those tasks that involve the most stress you can save time and ease your mind. By tending to the following wedding planning tasks no later than six months before your wedding date, you can avoid some of the stress associated with planning a wedding.

Keeping All Eyes on You
It’s a daydream of most young girls-what they will wear on their wedding day. Bridal gowns are a huge market and you will undoubtedly spend a considerable amount of time selecting the right dress for your special day. Many women already have some idea of the style of dress they want to wear. This can make things easier for you. If you have no idea what you want to wear, you will need to start shopping as early as possible. Before you hit the bridal stores, it’s a good idea to get a feel for the styles that interest you. You can start by flipping through bridal magazines, browsing the Internet, or attending bridal shows. When you actually visit a bridal store you will be able to tell the sales clerk what interests you. You can select your shoes and accessories the same way.

Performing Paper Detail
Wedding couples often wait to the last minute to consider wedding stationary such as invitations, thank you cards, and name cards. Your wedding day is a special day and your wedding stationary gives people a glimpse into what they can expect when they attend your wedding ceremony. You will need to have your guest list written so that you can have an idea of the amount of stationary you will need to order. As a rule, you should order 25 extra invitations and envelopes just in case you later decide to invite more guests.

Homemade stationary is becoming more popular. You can save money going this route. There are plenty of software programs available to make designing customized invitations a snap. You will probably have to provide the paper. Invest in the best quality paper that you can afford so that the ink from your printer doesn’t run. You can send invitations to your wedding three months before the wedding date. If you are inviting out-of-town guests, you should send your invitations at least six months in advance of the wedding date so that your guests will have adequate time to make travel arrangements.

Planning the Spread
Food is a big deal at weddings. Catering is a booming business and can be costly, depending the number of guests and the type of meal you want. If you are planning a wedding during the spring and winter months you will need to take care of catering arrangements early since these are popular times that people plan to have a wedding ceremony and your choices for catering companies may become limited. You should take time to review the people on your guest list and determine if you will need to order special meals. Are any guests on a special diet for health reasons? Any vegetarians? Low-carb dieters? A good variety of foods is always a good idea. Try to find a caterer who is highly recommended.

Video production is one of the most sought after services of today. The digital camera is not the only thing that preserves moments. The way you hold your hands together, the kiss after being hailed as husband and wife, the wearing of the rings and almost every part of the celebration will not be missed. Moments that you have not seen in your wedding, reactions and emotions are well captured because of the different arts applied in video production. Every bride and groom will be making memories in a detailed way.

This is due to wedding videography, the art of making videos for your wedding in a creative and stylistic way. Video production has played a major role in making good memories for newly wed couples. With the use of high-definition cameras and with the right talent, you will definitely enjoy your own wedding videos years after the wedding day.

What do you have to do to get this service? Here is how:

1. Check out wedding magazines, articles or website about this service. This is a good way to enhance your knowledge on the service. Once you get to talk to the videographer, at least you will know what you will be asking.

2. Look at your local directory on where you can find service like this. If you are having a hard time looking for one, ask you friends for recommendations.

3. Check out their wedding packages. If they have high-definition videos stored in DVDs, you will most likely enjoy the best videos but they can come in a price higher than others can.

4. Compare the price and product that they could give. Look at their samples first and you will have a clear idea on what they are offering and why it’s priced that way.

5. Before selecting the service, make sure every videographer have laid down the details of their services so that you will not expect more from them nor get less than what is talked about.

A traditional wedding cake was frosted in white or ivory buttercream. The buttercream icing has a softer and more genuine look than the too-perfect look of perfectly smooth fondant. (I once attended a wedding where one of the young guests insisted that the cake was fake; he could not believe that fondant was edible and not plastic!) The look of buttercream frosting harkens back to the day when the families of the bride and groom did much of the cooking for the wedding celebration. Although I don’t necessarily recommend having your mom try to make your wedding cake, working with buttercream is something that a talented amateur could conceivably do.

Classic wedding cakes were generally round, and could either consist of stacked layers or tiers with risers in between. The risers got a bad name in the 1980s, as they were often really tacky plastic things made to look like fluted columns, or worse yet, bridges spanning from one tier of cake to another adjacent to it. Yet, pedestals can be used to in a good way to add height to a cake and to give it a lighter feeling. One very nice way to use risers without the tacky factor is to partially obscure them with flowers between the layers of the cake.

The decorations on your nostalgic cake are what will really give it a charming simplicity. White on white is best, perhaps with a touch of pale pink if you want a hint of color. Keep the design classic. You cannot go wrong with pretty decorations piped in white frosting. Wonderful choices include garlands, scrolls, and Swiss dots. The pearl is another lovely addition to a vintage inspired cake, as it really ties in with the classic bridal jewelry favored by brides throughout the ages. You can have a simple pearl border piped along the edge of each tier, which looks beautiful when the bride is wearing pearl bridal jewelry.

Another nice choice for cake decorations would be fresh flowers. They can be arranged in small clusters on the base of each tier, cascading down one side of the cake, or as filling between layers if your cake has risers. Ask your florist to bring some additional flowers to place around the base of the cake, as well as some petals to sprinkle on the cake table. Roses are a timeless flower to use; even more vintage would be orange blossoms. Choose cake flowers that tie in with your bouquets and centerpieces. One of the nice things about decorating your cake with real flowers is that it is considerably less expensive than having the baker create handmade sugar flowers.

A nostalgic wedding cake should definitely have a vintage cake topper. The best of all would be if the bride or groom’s parents saved their cake topper for you to use. Otherwise, look around at vintage stores and online for wedding cake toppers with a sentimental design. You cannot go wrong with an original bride and groom topper. Other popular choices from the past are wedding bells and doves.

Your wedding cake should be special, but it does not have to be cutting edge or extravagant. Create a cake with a nod to the past for a dessert that will have both beauty and simplicity. A nostalgic wedding cake is the perfect sweet ending to your special day.

When planning your wedding, deciding what invitations to send is one of the first big decisions you will have to make. The proper wedding invitation will set the tone for the entire wedding. Are you planning a formal or informal wedding? A lavish affair, or a casual get together? Often there is no need to explicitly state such a thing on your invitations; you can relay the message simply by choosing wedding invitations which reflect the style, theme, and tone of your wedding. There are a variety of ways to add personality to your wedding invitations.

How can color be added to invitations?

When deciding on where to place color in your wedding invitations, there are a variety of choices. You can opt for the traditional cream or white card stock and add a personalized color for the writing on the card. If this does not fit your style, the invitation itself can be your main color, and the script can be white. Many couples opt to include their color choice in the lining of the envelope. Thus, the invitation can remain the traditional black and white, but a touch of color can be found inside the envelope as the invitees open it up. Another way to introduce color to your invitations is through a ribbon adornment.

Do you have to use light colored card stock?

The selection of colors in card stock has never been wider. Cards are available in many shades of greens, blues, pinks and browns. Depending on the look that you are going for, you may choose a subtle pastel or a vibrant bold color for your card stock. Generally, couples who are looking for a more traditional wedding invitation will choose a lighter color, as will those planning a casual ceremony. For those planning a contemporary ceremony or a more formal affair, bolder colors are a more common choice.

Traditional Wedding: Can you still add color to your invitations?

There are no rules for what is right and what is wrong when deciding how your wedding invitations should look. While a traditional wedding invitation is typically understated, adding a hint of color through ink, envelope linings or ribbon adornments are all acceptable and attractive options. If you are certain that you would like a traditional wedding, you may want to choose an understated color for these accents.

What rules should I follow when adding color to my wedding invitations?

There are no “written in stone” rules when planning your wedding. It is your wedding and your invitations, and you want to choose an invitation that expresses both you and your fiancé’s personality and the atmosphere you plan for the wedding. Whether you choose bold or subtle color, vibrant ribbon adornments or delicate lace edged ribbon, the invitation is uniquely yours. While there are suggestions on how to choose color for your wedding invitations, do not allow yourself to get stuck into a rigid template for how your wedding invitations should look.

Do I have to add color to my wedding invitations?

Just because technology has made it easier than ever to add color to your wedding invitations there is no reason to force yourself to add color if you do not want to. White or cream colored card stock with black or dark gray ink is still a popular as well as a correct option.

No matter how you choose to personalize your wedding invitations, the addition of color makes it easier to do. The addition of color to ink, ribbons or envelopes create a special and personalized invitation that will serve as a keepsake of your special day for years to come.
